Gal Gadot on how Wonder Woman inspired Netflix's Heart of Stone.

Gadot plays intelligence operative Rachel Stone, who must assist her organization in recovering its most valuable and hazardous asset, known only as The Heart, before it falls into the wrong hands.

Gadot also produced Heart of Stone, and in an interview with Digital Spy before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, she highlighted the connection between her new film and Wonder Woman.

The concept was conceived in 2017, following the success of the first Wonder Woman film."

"That was a 'a-ha moment' for me when I said, 'Wait a second, there's men and women, they all like the film, there's an audience for these types of films,'" she remembered.

"I'm such a fan of this genre, and it's something I've always wanted to do, and it gave me the confidence to realize, 'Hey, there's room for more female-led action films,'

She did, however, mention that Heart of Stone allowed her the opportunity to play someone who was unlike any other character she'd played before.

"From the beginning, I wanted to create a character who would be inspiring but not perfect in any way: multilayered, emotional, going through some journeys,

"It's much more grounded, rawer, grittier, and just more real." And the tone is absolutely new, unusual, and of our day. And that was something I was very interested in."
