Lionsgate Exec Says John Wick 5 Is Early Development

After substantial debate regarding the continuation of the primary series of John Wick, Lionsgate said that a fifth film is "in development."

Joe Drake, the motion picture group chair at Lionsgate, discussed the franchise's future on the most recent earnings call.

He said: "What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year.

Three more, including [John Wick 5] and the TV show The Continental, are in the production stages.

"So, we're creating the world, and when that [fifth] movie comes, [it] will be organic — will be grown out of how we're starting to tell those stories," the author continued.

But you can count on John Wick having a consistent cadence.

The original plan was to film John Wick 5 immediately after John Wick: Chapter 4.

However, when those intentions were altered, the core film series' future was left in doubt.
